Harley-Davidson/Buell
We have the ability to make Harleys run like they were designed to. The key to tuning a Harley is getting those big v-twin cylinders balanced. The engines are basically two separate engines sharing a crankshaft. From the factory these were programmed with a single fuel map, but with this design individual fuel maps for each cylinder are necessary. With the 2007 and newer models, O2 sensors began to be utilized to ensure a leaner motorcycle that was more emissions friendly, however this had negative effects on the motorcycles.
So with a tuning device, preferably a PowerCommander, we are able to tune and adjust individual cylinder fuel timing, accelerator pump and rev limiter extension on an individual cylinder and individual gear basis. The PowerCommander also includes O2 sensor elimintaors that will eliminate the closed loop function and allow us to tune the individual cylinders directly off the head ports where the O2 sensors used to be. When we take a completely stock Harley, install a PowerCommander and properly balance the cylinders, we’ve seen a minimum of 45mpg and 10% power increase to the tire. This also greatly improves low rpm throttle response, mid-range and top end horsepower. Reliability is also improved greatly because the cylinder temperatures are decreased substantially. Most heat shields on exhaust are no longer even needed.
There are many types of programmers out there for the Harley’s, but with the hundreds of Harley tunes we’ve completed over the years, we have found that the PowerCommander is the most user friendly of them all. It offers the highest tuning resolution, meaning the ability to more precisely tune the fuel maps, and is one of the most affordable tuning devices for Harley Davidson motorcycles.
The same process above is applicable for Buell motorcycles, one difference is we use a Buell specific tuning device, the ECM Spy, when a PowerCommander is not available. We have done lots of testing, troubleshooting and research on Buells, and can help with most, if any, of your Buell issues.
I have a 2001 Road King that is modified. the engine is 95inch it has ported heads with larger intake valves, Hi lift Cams .575 inch, Horse Power Inc 51mm Throttle body with larger injectors and 2 into 1 exhaust. I am having a hard time tuning it. The fuel injection is Magneti Marelli system. I have Harley race tuner to install new fuel and timing maps. The main issue is there are only about 4 base maps to start with and there all based off stock fuel injectors. Is this something you could tune? If not do you know someone that could? The Delphi system has thousands of maps but not my Magneti Marelli system.
Thanks,
